Online Marketing

David Meerman Scott recently wrote two books that everyone needs to read! First, "World Wide Rave," and, "The New Rules of Marketing & PR." These two books are the news techniques all marketing campaigns should be surrounded by. We can't beg newspapers to write stories on us anymore. What we need to do is to creat a viral buzz on our own. Living in a world today with all this new technology, we have so much opportunity to be successful. Take a look at Davids blog at: www.webinknow.com. You'll find some pretty incredible information there.

I recently wrote a paper about web 2.0 and connected it to business. If you are the CEO of a business and are not marketing on the web, I put it as, "your business is still in the 'business stone age' and if you don't do something about it, the world is going to pass you by. You will be history."

Many CEO's don't think social media is worth while, but why do so many people think that? There are bloggers out there that have more influence in media than papers such as the Washington Post. David speaks about advertising online in a way that gets you thinking. Think about yourself and how you look up deals or coupons? Do you look in the yellow pages? Maybe a magazine? What about GOOGLE!? Everyone today goes online and that's how they find "stuff." If you aren't online, you will soon enough be lost and you can say goodbye to your business.

I am just an intern for Gazelles, Inc. I have been put in charge of running their social media campaign and I think I am doing a great job. You might be thinking, why would a company hire an 18 year old to run something like this if it is so important? Well for starters, it's cheaper for them to do this. I know I'll be hired at a cheaper wage but I can do that. I also know how the internet works a whole lot better than people that are in their 40's and 50's. If you have a company and don't have someone running a social media campaign, it's about time you do so. Getting your content out there is crucial in today's world. If you don't, it's just a matter of time before your competition passes you by.
